  Publisher : Bernice   21 May 2024 09:14

Applying for a visa to study in Malta can be a complex and daunting process, but English Path’s dedicated visa team is here to assist you every step of the way. Whether you’re planning to study for a short-term course of up to 12 weeks or a longer program, understanding the visa requirements and processes is crucial. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the new visa application process and highlight the benefits of using English Path’s specialized visa services.

Studying for Up to 12 Weeks

For Visa-Exempt Countries: If you are from a country that does not require a visa to enter Malta, you can study for up to 12 weeks under the Schengen Area’s 90-day visa-free allowance. If you wish to extend your stay beyond 12 weeks, you can apply for a visa extension, provided you are a genuine student with at least 85% attendance. It's important to note that you cannot enter Malta for tourism purposes and then apply for a student visa after starting a course.

For Visa-Required Countries: Students from countries requiring a visa to enter Malta can book courses up to 12 weeks as tourists. You will need to obtain a visa letter from English Path and apply for a Schengen Short-Stay Visa (C-Visa).

Studying for More Than 12 Weeks

For courses longer than 12 weeks, students must apply for a Long Stay Student Visa before traveling to Malta. This type of visa offers several significant advantages:

  1. Work Opportunities:

    • You can start working from your first day in Malta by applying for a Jobsplus license.
  2. Smooth Border Control:

    • Having a student visa reduces the likelihood of being stopped or questioned at border control, as English Path can confirm your student status.
  3. Schengen Area Travel:

    • The student visa allows multiple entries, enabling you to travel within the Schengen Area and to non-Schengen countries like Serbia and Turkey.
  4. Flexible Accommodation:

    • Only 14 nights of accommodation need to be booked initially.
  5. Extended Visa Exemption:

    • If you are from a visa-exempt country, you can utilize the 90-day visa exemption after your course ends.

To apply for a student visa, you will need to provide the following:

  • Fully completed and signed Visa Application Form.
