ICEF has partnered with international safeguarding experts, Welfare Way, to launch Safeguarding for Education Agents and Counsellors (SEAC), the latest compliance-focused course developed through its professional training arm, ICEF Academy.
The course will not only provide educators with assurance that their recruitment partners are proficient in essential safeguarding practices, but will help agents better advise students who may need extra support due to physical disabilities or mental health concerns. With the skills gained through the course, agents and counsellors will be able to recognise the early signs of risk and vulnerability, as well as create and implement a student well-being framework to ensure safeguarding principles are met.
“As international student mobility continues to grow, so do the duty-of-care responsibilities that education professionals hold,” said Markus Badde, CEO at ICEF. “Our latest course extends beyond recruitment, helping agents proactively safeguard student well-being and ensuring that education institutions can rely on the strength and skill of their recruitment partners to make studying abroad a positive and enriching experience.”
Sandy Connors, CEO of Welfare Way added, "Travelling overseas to gain an education is daunting for anyone. Students and parents are excited and nervous in equal measure and often worry about safety. This is where education agents play a valuable role, by recognising risk and vulnerability and intervening when necessary."
The certification course is delivered completely online, allowing participants to learn at their own pace via practical assessments, case studies, and expert-led insights. The new course is the latest in a series of training products designed to help both agents and educators manage compliance and best practices while raising recruitment standards. This includes recent releases like the Ethical Sales Training for Agents and Counsellors course and the Train Your Agents platform.
