On 18 August 2026, Schools & Agents was delighted to go live with Wolfango Poggi from Scuola Leonardo da Vinci Milano for a special broadcast looking at the school's remarkable journey, its exciting plans for the future and some of the highlights of another successful year. At the heart of our conversation was a very special milestone. Scuola Leonardo da Vinci is preparing to celebrate 50 years since its foundation in Florence in 1977.
Half a century later, the school has grown into a recognised name in international education, with schools now located in Florence, Rome, Viareggio, Torino and Milano, welcoming students from around the world who want to learn Italian while experiencing life in Italy.
Reaching 50 years is an impressive achievement for any educational organisation, but for Scuola Leonardo da Vinci it is also the beginning of an exciting new chapter. The anniversary will coincide with a complete rebrand for Scuola Leonardo da Vinci, reflecting both the school's heritage and its ambitions for the future. While the new identity is still under wraps, we are looking forward to sharing the new logo and branding with the Schools & Agents community very soon.
The rebrand represents an opportunity to look ahead while celebrating everything that has made Scuola Leonardo da Vinci successful over the past five decades: Italian language, culture, international experiences and a strong connection with the cities in which its schools operate.
Another major topic during the broadcast was the school's new Summer Camp for Young Learners in Milan, which was introduced for the first time this year. The programme was designed to offer young people much more than an Italian language course. Students from around the world with an interest in studying in Milan were able to experience the city from a student's perspective, combining language learning with cultural activities, city experiences and an introduction to the opportunities available to them in the future.
One of the most interesting elements was the opportunity to visit and experience different universities in Milan. For young learners considering studying in Italy, this can make a huge difference. Rather than simply imagining what university life might be like, participants were able to get a genuine preview of the environment, the city and the student experience before making decisions about their future studies. The success of this first Summer Camp has already encouraged Wolfango and his team to bring the programme back next year.
And there is another exciting development on the horizon.
In 2027, the Summer Camp will be offered in both Italian and English. This reflects the changing higher education landscape in Italy, where an increasing number of universities are now offering degree programmes taught in English.
For international students considering Italy as a future study destination, programmes such as this provide a valuable bridge between language learning, cultural immersion and future academic opportunities.
The conversation also turned to another reason for Scuola Leonardo da Vinci to celebrate. Following its achievement in reaching the Superstar category at the StudyTravel Awards last year, the group was delighted to discover that it has once again been nominated for the prestigious Superstar Award this year.
The nomination places Scuola Leonardo da Vinci alongside some of the most established and respected names in the international education industry. Being nominated once is a significant achievement. To reach the Superstar category again demonstrates the consistency of the school's work and the reputation it has built within the international education community. The winners will be announced at the StudyTravel Awards Ceremony in London at the beginning of September, and everyone at Schools & Agents will certainly be watching with interest.
From a language school founded in Florence in 1977 to a group with schools across some of Italy's most important and culturally rich cities, Scuola Leonardo da Vinci has come a long way. The 50th anniversary provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that history, but the discussion with Wolfango made it clear that the focus is firmly on the future too. A new brand identity, an expanding Young Learner programme, stronger connections with Italian universities and another prestigious StudyTravel Awards nomination all point towards an exciting period ahead.
For agents working with students interested in learning Italian, studying in Italy or experiencing Italian culture, Scuola Leonardo da Vinci continues to offer opportunities that go well beyond the classroom. And with 50 years behind them, it seems that the next chapter is only just beginning.
