The ELT Council Malta was delighted to once again collaborate with EdYOUFest, an international education community that brings educators together to learn, exchange ideas and build meaningful professional connections across borders.

Held on 11 and 12 September 2026 at the University of Malta Valletta Campus, this year's EdYOUFest Malta welcomed over 150 educators across the two days, bringing together local and international professionals for a dynamic programme of professional learning, reflection and exchange.

The annual collaboration forms part of the ELT Council's ongoing commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and to providing educators in Malta with access to diverse international perspectives, innovative practices and opportunities to connect with colleagues from different educational contexts.

Under the theme “Inclusive ELT: Agency, Identity and Emotion,” the two-day programme explored some of the issues shaping today's classrooms. Highlights included plenary sessions by Daniel Xerri, Catherine Mantadaki and Charles Browne, addressing inclusion and community, the importance of human skills in the age of AI, and developments in language learning.

A varied workshop programme explored teacher and learner wellbeing, learner agency, emotional intelligence, AI, technology-enhanced learning, design thinking and contemporary approaches to course design. A special cultural spotlight session, Grounded in Malta: Movement, Presence and Teacher Wellbeing, also invited educators to consider practical ways of supporting their own wellbeing and creating calmer, more productive learning environments.

The programme concluded with a panel discussion bringing together the plenary speakers, providing an opportunity to reflect on the ideas explored throughout the event and on what it means to remain human, connected and responsive as education continues to evolve.

Beyond the sessions themselves, EdYOUFest offered valuable opportunities for networking, cultural exchange and international connection, reinforcing the importance of bringing educators together not only to learn, but also to share experiences and build professional communities.

The ELT Council looks forward to continuing its collaboration with EdYOUFest and to creating further opportunities that inspire, connect and empower Malta's ELT educators.
