2010 is a special year for ECS Scotland

ECS Scotland is celebrating moving into larger premises and 15 years of quality English language teaching in Edinburgh, Scotland.

After 15 years of teaching English in a beautiful mews building in a quiet neighbourhood of Edinburgh, ECS Scotland outgrew their old premises and have recently relocated into an A-Listed, Georgian building which still has many of the original features from that era. Located in the centre of Edinburgh’s New Town, the school is easily accessible from all parts of the city and is surrounded by restaurants, cafes/bars, shops, and parks. The classrooms are comfortable and light and a large self-study room with WI-FI internet access and a library is located on the top floor.

Although they have moved in to a slightly larger building, as a small, family run school they have been able to maintain the warm atmosphere, personal welcome and friendly service they have always offered to their students. As well as a weekly excursion to a place of cultural interest, the school provides complimentary tea and coffee during the morning coffee break. The morning break is taken together as a whole school, the Principal and owner Jane McKinlay sees the coffee break as ‘an integral part of the course which gives students a daily opportunity to practise their spoken English with other students and teachers in an informal and safe environment’.

ECS Scotland is a British Council accredited, English language training centre which specialises in teaching General and Specific English to mature adults in small groups of a maximum of 5 students per group or private lessons. Mature adults and company executives who are apprehensive of learning English with large groups of teenagers feel comfortable in the professional but relaxed atmosphere of ECS Scotland, the average age of students is 26 – 60 years.

Intensive two or three week ‘Group Plus Tuition’ courses are the most popular as they combine 15 hours per week of General English speaking and listening skills in a small group with 5, 10 or 15 hours per week of one-to-one classes of a specific language area. Specific English for Business, Law, Medicine, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Aviation, Politics, Journalism and exam courses for IELTS, FCE, CAE, CPE, TOEFL/TOEIC are available throughout the year. Other language areas can be taught on request. All courses are available to start any Monday and students can study for as many weeks as they wish.

Following the success of last year’s ‘Weekend English Refresher’ courses, ECS Scotland is offering these courses again in 2010. The ‘Weekend English refresher’ courses will be held on 17th & 18th April and 9th & 10th October 2010, they are a perfect opportunity for students who feel the need to activate their spoken English whilst enjoying a weekend break in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. The focus of these mini courses is on speaking and listening skills through a variety of communication activities. The courses take place from 9.30am – 13.30 on Saturday and Sunday mornings and the afternoons are free to explore the city or take part in an optional whisky tasting or guided tour arranged by ECS Scotland. Private weekend courses can also be tailor-made for closed groups of a minimum 4 students.

As a 15 year anniversary promotion, ECS Scotland is offering a complimentary 15 hours General English group course to all students who book a course of at least 2 weeks Group Tuition Plus 25 or Group Tuition Plus 30.

Please feel free to contact ECS Scotland with enquiries for ad-hoc courses, closed group weekend courses, or any other requirements you may have. As a small school they are in the unique position to offer tailor made courses upon request.
