The Maltese archipelago consists of three main islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino. Malta, the largest, has an area of 246 square kilometres and a total of 400,000 inhabitants. The Maltese landscape is characterized by a series of low hills with terraced fields. The shoreline, which is 137 kilometres long, has many bays and harbours, with a good selection of sandy beaches and rocky coves for you to explore. Malta offers a warm and mild climate throughout the year.
Temperatures average 14 degrees Celsius in winter and 32 degrees Celsius in the summer months. The hottest time is from the middle of July to the middle of September. It has had a long relationship with various nationalities over the centuries and this has created a marriage of styles and traditions, giving the islands a fascinating and rich culture. The British, for example, occupied Malta for around 180 years which is why English is so widely spoken around the island. The two official languages spoken here are English and Maltese althoug h many of the islanders speak more than two languages.
Ideally situated high on a hill in Pembroke, AClass Academy enjoys lovely sea and country views. Pembroke is a safe and central town very close to Sliema and St. Julian’s and some of the islands’ finest bars, clubs, hotels and restaurants. The school also has extensive grounds where you can relax or play sports.

St. Paul's Bay is a typical old-world Mediterranean fishing village situated in the north of Malta. Although it now boasts of all modern amenities it still retains its old-world charm.
The bay itself, which is enclosed, is the perfect setting for all water-sports enthusiasts. Windsurfers and water-skiers mingle with the traditional colourful Maltese fishing-boats. Further out one can see two islands which are of great historical importance since
it was here that St Paul landed after being ship-wrecked en route to Rome where he was due to be beheaded.
History here dates back even further and ancient relics such as Neolithic stone circles and saltpans can also be seen in various locations around the bay. St Paul’s Bay is a popular tourist area for the Maltese and the British. This combination ensures that students will have plenty of opportunity for speaking English outside school hours.
Over the last twenty years, the popularity of St Paul’s Bay has led to an influx of tourists. The area now boasts a vast range of tourist facilities like bars, nightclubs, a cinema, a casino, waterfront beachclubs, restaurants, and cafes provide entertainment while necessary facilities such as banks, post offices, doctor’s clinics and pharmacies -all within easy walking distance from the school.
Alpha School of English is situated just 3 minutes away from the sea front promenade. The school is close to the main bus routes and is easily reached from Bugibba, Xemxija, Mosta, Mellieha and Qawra.

Transfer: Taxi is the easiest way to travel from the airport. The cost to Bugibba/ St. Paul’s Bay is around €30 and to Mellieha around €40. Students who have booked an individual Return Airport Transfer with the school are charged €46 while accompanying passengers are charged €23
Our group rate for Return Airport Transfers (6 or more students) is €20
A range of international car hire companies have offices in the Arrivals Lounge of the Airport. However, as the rates offered by these companies tend to be exorbitant, we advise students to pre-book their rental car. Please just contact the school for a quote.
What happens on the first day of school: On the first day students must arrive at the school at 8:00h. Students will then be asked to complete a detailed written assessment test which will help us to place them in a class at the correct language level. Students are given 45 minutes to complete their test. Due to the time it takes to mark the test, and to allocate the student to the correct language level, it is possible that the student may miss one or more lessons on the first morning. For this reason, students can also choose to complete their assessment test at home and email it to our Director of Studies before their arrival in Malta. Students who choose this option should come to school at 08.45h on their first day.
Activities: Scuba-diving, windsurfing, sailing, water-skiing and
paragliding are all very popular activities, and during the summer season, we operate a shuttle bus service every day after school to the various nearby
sandy beaches. As the Maltese climate is ideal for the pursuit of outdoor sports, Alpha School of English also organises a range of sports courses
such as horse-riding, tennis, squash, golf, kayaking, abseiling, climbing, sailing, kitesurfing and wakeboarding which may be taken alone or in
combination with an English Course. Or why not take the chance of a lifetime – Swim with Dolphins!
Visa information: To aid students with their visa applications, Alpha School of English offers a complimentary visa support service. Following the receipt of bookings from students and agents, the school will issue a signed and stamped Student Confirmation Letter. All student visa applications must be made at an Embassy of Malta located in the student’s home country. In cases where no such Embassy is available, students may apply for their visas at the nearest Embassy or Consulate of Italy or Austria. For more information regarding visas, please visit the Malta Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
What is included?: At the end of the course, all students receive a certificate of attendance.

Our experienced and welcoming team offers English Domain students a diverse range of teaching specialties and skills.
English Domain students come not just to enhance their level of the English language, but as students who are willing to absorb and learn about the Maltese culture, heritage and history dating back to 500BC.
English Domain is based in Mosta, a town situated in the middle of the island of Malta, to the north-west of Valletta.

Mosta has many legends such as the Mosta Dome, Mosta Bride (L-Gharusa tal-Mosta) and a lot of historical places such as the Victoria Lines and Medieval chapels.”

Mosta is a town of contradiction, where rural quaintness meets high tech commerce and business.
Mosta is most famous for The Rotunda of St Marija Assunta (sometimes shortened to as The Mosta Dome). Built in the 19th century on the site of a previous church, it was designed by the Maltese architect Giorgio Grognet. Its dome is among the largest in the world, with a diameter of 37 meters (122ft). The rotunda dome is the third-largest unsupported church dome in Europe and the ninth largest in the world.
The town of Mosta is situated in the centre part of Malta and it is surrounded by fertile agricultural land. Neighboring villages and towns include Lija, Mdina, Rabat and Naxxar.
It is also found on the main route from Valletta to Cirkewwa and experiences daily traffic flows from north to south and vice versa.
Mosta is 9 km away from the capital city of Malta, Valletta.

Transfer: IELS Malta provides a transfer service from Malta’s International Airport for students regardless of the time and day of arrival. The price is: €15 for one way and €25 for both ways.
After collecting their luggage, you should pass through the Customs area. Our airport representatives will be waiting for you, holding a sign with "IELS Malta” prominently displayed.
You should show the host family/hotel/apartment address so that our airport representatives can identify them easily.
Please note: It is absolutely essential to send us the exact flight details (date, time, flight number) at least 7 days prior to arrival, to ensure that transfers can be arranged and host families know when to expect you.
How to reach the destination: The flight and any other transportation to and from your destination is your own responsability. It is recommended to look around at the different air lines since they often have special offers and the prices can differ a great deal. If you have problems finding your flight please don't hesitate to ask us for assistance and we will do our best to help out.
What happens on the first day of school: On the first Monday morning students are expected to come to the IELS Malta reception at the time to be given on their welcome pack envelope.
All new students will be welcomed by our IELS Malta staff. The students will be assessed to determine their grammatical knowledge and fluency of spoken English. They will then be placed into classes with students of a similar aptitude. After testing, they will be provided with a full orientation session describing the school, the courses and the location. Students are introduced to the Director of Studies and the staff who are responsible for their welfare and leisure activities.
Activities: We believe that learning English should be fun, whether you are in or out of class. IELS provides a varied and exciting range of social and cultural activities, which are an integral part of the programmes.
Visa information: Schengen visa applications must be filed at the diplomatic mission of the country which is the main destination of the visit. In the event, therefore, that an applicant intends to visit several Schengen states (with stays of approximately the same duration), the application must be filed at the diplomatic mission of the country of first entry. Thus, applicants wishing to visit Malta as the main destination, or the country of first entry into the Schengen area, must file their applications at Malta’s diplomatic missions or its representations. Following the practice of Schengen Member States, Malta entered into representation agreements with other Member States in order that a visa application for Malta can be filed in countries where Malta does not have a diplomatic mission or consular post. The consular post of the country representing Malta will issue visas for entering Malta according to the common Schengen visa policy as if issuing visas for entering their own country.
Visa applications must be in writing, giving all details required on the Visa Application Form which can be acquired free of charge from Malta’s diplomatic missions and consular posts or downloaded from below.
The Visa Application Form must be wholly and legibly completed, signed by the applicant, and accompanied by:
- a valid travel document (passport) validity of which must not be less than three (3) months.
- two (2) passport-size photographs, in colour and taken against a white background, with face clearly visible.
- the visa fee
The Visa Section on the Official Website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malta is updated on a regular basis, and you can look up more information regarding an Entry Visa to Malta there. Malta, with its long and chequered history, has much to offer to lovers of art, architecture, history and archaeology. With clear blue skies and warm unpolluted sea, long hot summers and mild winters, picturesque villages, attractive natural harbours and sandy beaches, the island is an ideal resort for sun seeking visitors and a paradise for swimmers. Whether cruising around the island in warm summer days, or simply loitering through narrow streets, or picnicking in fields of yellow flowers, one is fascinated by the simple beauty of the country.
With an area of 246 square km, Malta is the largest of a group of islands which lie approximately 93Km from Sicily. Located in the centre of the Mediterranean, Malta's position has been the key factor in its history. Malta inherited its wealth of colourful culture and its unique character from the various nations, which throughout centuries dominated the Mediterranean.
Having been a British colony for over 160 years, Malta today has become synonymous with the English language, which together with Maltese are both official languages. English is spoken everywhere and by practically everyone, so out of the classroom your English education continues.
Link School of English is located in Swieqi, a quiet residential area ideal for educational purposes and close to St. Julian’s.
