Who or What does UNOSEL represent?
Founded thirty years ago, today UNOSEL has a membership of sixty-nine professional organisations. The aim of the Association is to promote and inform the public of the professionalism of its members, to develop consumer confidence by giving consumers genuine guarantees of service, and to keep its members abreast of new developments in the profession. The commitment of the members of UNOSEL is embodied in the European Standard on Language tours, and the UNOSEL quality charter.

The language travel industry shaken by a horrible murder
Mohammed Al-Majed from Qatar, a student at the well-known language school EF in Hastings, was recently brutally beaten to death by a group of racists. Last night the police started the hunt for the gangsters who fled from a kebab take-away where they in turns kicked the gentle Mohammed in the head. He tragically died after a two-day fight for his life at the hospital.

Chinese students flock to Great Britain
The number of Chinese students enrolling in A-level, language and foundation courses in Great Britain is increasing at an unprecedented rate, according to leading international education provider, Study Group, which has seen Chinese student numbers grow by almost 300 per cent in four years.

New industry group sets mandatory standards
Languages Canada, a new national organization of public and private sector language training programs, would like to ensure that language training in Canada is of the highest quality. To join the organization, schools must meet stringent quality standards. Those standards guarantee that international students who come to Canada to learn English or French can expect to receive a uniform level of excellent instruction in a well-run facility.

FELTOM organises non-alcohol student parties
This summer FELTOM (The Federation of English Language Teaching Organisations Malta) has successfully organisied several parties where alcohol is not allowed. These open-air parties were held at various locations outside the popular party area called Paceville in St Julian's, Malta. The parties boosted an average attendance of not less than 1700 students.

Increase of foreign language students in NZ
According to the English Language Providers (ELP) survey, there were 39,668 international students enrolled in English language schools in New Zealand in the year ended March 2008 – an increase of 1,940 (5.1 percent) from the previous year.

Thai Govt. has relaunched scholarship scheme
The programme will give over 900 students from low-income families the chance to finish their bachelor degrees. Universities in Non-English speaking countries are the target so the students get the opportunity to learn another language. They would study at language schools before enrolment into Universities.

OISE Bristol has moved
In 1986, OISE bought its second adult school in Lower Park Row, Bristol. There the school remained for over two decades, welcoming thousands of students from all over the world through its doors and obtaining a reputation for outstanding academic standards. NEAS Revised Standards and Criteria
On 1st July 2008 NEAS posted its revised Standards and Criteria for ELT Centres on its website. The revised standards contain some changes in compliance requirements, such as the maximum number of students per class and minimum qualifications for an Academic Manager. In the main, the standards have been reworked to up-date the language used and to take into account the requirements of the National Code 2007. The NEAS Standards and Criteria for ELT Centres are to be used in conjunction with the National Code 2007 standards.

Atlantic Language Burma appeal
Atlantic Students made the most of the Burma appeal cake sale. Staff and students bought and brought a variety of cakes, buns, muffins, tarts and scones. The Cake Sale was a success and in a short time €500 was raised. The money will go to Burma through the charity organisation GOAL.
